CHECK THIS OUT!!   Carlos is currently working on some new original songs with one of the HOTTEST Jazz/Fusion bands coming out of Europe -- Subfive!   Last year, Carlos joined the sensational Jazz/Fusion group from Sweden, Subfive, as a special guest during their tour of Japan in October 2007.    And because of the great time they had performing together during that tour, they are now working on a second set of shows in October 2008!!    PLUS, they're collaborating on some new music together and plan to record a new CD with Carlos while they're here in Japan!    Stay tuned to this website for more updates in the coming months!

Subfive

Subfive  was formed in the spring of 1999 and has since toured extensively throughout Scandinavia, central Europe and Japan.  The band’s newest CD, "City Of Dreams" was released in 2003 on the Japanese label, Nippon Crown, and has since received worldwide acclaim among critics and fusion aficionados alike.  The members of Subfive bring significant live performance credits to the band, having worked with such luminaries as Stevie Wonder, Quincy Jones, Gerald Albright, Brian Blade, Paul Jackson Jr., Toninho Horta, Toots Thielemans, Mervyn Warren, Mezzoforte, Nils Landgren, Rigmor Gustafsson, David O’Higgins, Nicholas Payton, among others.

Summer 2007 Update: 

Carlos was recently honored with an invitation to speak and perform at the local AmerAsian School of Okinawa, located in nearby Ginowan City.  This school is specifically designed to address the educational needs of children born to unwed Japanese mothers, who's boyfriend, (typically American service members), have abandoned their pregnant girlfriends on Okinawa and fled back to the United States to avoid their parental responsibilities.   The situation for many of these children is truly heartbreaking, so Carlos used this opportunity to speak about the concept of never giving up on your dreams and standing tall in the face of adversity.   Mixing a bit of storytelling, music and even some audience participation, Carlos provided these students with an energized dose of positive reinforcement that will hopefully last a lifetime!   

 

"These are some beautifully gifted children who are growing up under circumstances that are beyond their control.  And yet they all had such FABULOUS attitudes!  I was amazed at how positive they all were and the conviction they had for following their lifelong dreams.  Speaking to them at this event was truly an honor for me, and even I though I was there to provide them some positive direction in life, I left their school feeling even more energized than ever to follow my own goals & aspirations!   May God bless each and every one of these beautiful children as they strive to reach for their Dreams!"  -- Carlos J.
